The Far North Queensland Learning Development Centre – ICT is designed to support and promote the use of ICTs to enhance and improve learning and teaching. The centre provides learning and development activities focusing on issues and strategies related to the successful and purposeful integration of ICTs.

We've done the searching...you do the downloading and installing. Staff from the LDC have been surfing the web looking for free programs for schools to use.  Ranging from Image manipulation to 3D design there's something to suit everyone.

Girls Into Doing Great Information Technology Society

GIDGITS was first developed in 2002 in the Far Northern Districts and has grown to become a statewide network for girls interested in doing great information technology.      

Gidgits now consists of two major parts:

- the Far North Qld Gidgits Chapter which coordinates events for girls in
   secondary schools throughout FNQ and
- the Go Go Gidgits Online Club for girls from throughout the state.

The Gidgits project aims to bring girls and their teachers together to enable them to explore learning opportunites in ICT's and potential career paths.  Successful events to date have included conferences, camps, workshops and role model breakfasts.    The project also has it's own website at www.gidgits.org.  This site has had over 33 000 hits since it was first launched in February 2003.
