The iPod Touch is a mobile device that not only looks great but has huge potential to improve student learning outcomes when blended with carefully constructed learning experiences.
Move beyond the “Oh Wow” factor into a real understanding of what they might offer your school.

Rethink
Educators, students and parents must be well versed in the 21st century skills
that students need to acquire to be successful. Rethinking what we teach should be done in conjunction with rethinking how we teach. Students should be engaged in relevant and contextual problems - with learning designed to develop 21st century skills using a multi-disciplinary approach. Curriculum should apply to students’ current and future lives and leverage the power of Web 2.0 and ubiquitous technologies.
Are you ready to be challenged?
Challenge Based Learning is an engaging multidisciplinary approach to teaching and learning that encourages students to leverage the technology they use in their daily lives to solve real-world problems. Challenge Based Learning is collaborative and hands-on, asking students to work with other students, their teachers, and experts in their communities and around the world to develop deeper knowledge of the subjects students are studying, accept and solve challenges, take action, share their experience, and enter into a global discussion about important issues. During this workshop you will be immersed within a Challenge Based Learning activity and will utilise resources such as the iPod Touch, the MacBook and iTunes U.
Personalised learning with the App Store
Challenge: create self-learning students with access to differentiated curriculums
How? Plug in to the App store & its 100,000+ potential learning tools.
This workshop will allow you to experience for yourself how the personalising power of the iPod touch and App store can put a differentiated curriculum in the hands of every student, and move them towards becoming self-learners with the advanced critical thinking skills necessary for survival in the 21st century world. You will learn about solutions for setting up school iTunes accounts, how to search the App store, how to embed evaluation skills throughout this process (using a fantastic free app called T-charts), and how to step back and let the learning happen
Meet the iPod touch
There’s an mLearning app for that
The iPhone is rapidly becoming the mLearning platform of choice worldwide and a non-technical background should not be a barrier to great pedagogical expertise on this device. This session is aimed at any educator who wishes to bring their app ideas into reality and covers the essential elements for managing iPhone/iPod Touch development. Learn tips for scoping concepts, designing interfaces, managing contractors, liaising with Apple and marketing in the App Store.
mLearning: Making the most of student owned devices
With smartphone penetration high in many schools it’s not surprising to see teachers leveraging off student owned devices during lessons. The eclectic range of hardware, operating systems and software however can prove problematic when creating learning experiences that are accessible to all students. During this presentation, participants will examine a range of web based platforms that provide an optimised mLearning experience for the majority of smart devices.
