LOTE in Learning Online Course

The LOTE in Learning Professional Development Course is available free online to Education Queensland Teachers who will need to have registered with the Learning Place.

This program aims to connect Education Queensland LOTE teachers, generalist teachers and curriculum leaders in school-based projects that focus on effective whole-school curriculum, pedagogy and assessment practices.

The program is not KLA specific and addresses two potential audiences - individual teachers working on improving pedagogy, and curriculum leaders using the same information to strengthen curriculum, pedagogy and assessment alignment practice in schools.

Individuals may choose to take on projects themselves and ask for assistance from others in their schools at strategic points. Alternatively, teams of teachers and or leaders within schools may contract to complete one or more of the projects simultaneously.

Content and Structure

Three principles form the basis of the three Learning Packages within the course - Engaging preconceptions, Building and using conceptual frameworks and Meta-cognition.

Each Learning Package provides a study guide and foundational readings, then provides extension elements that explore what the principle may look like in four learning environments, that teachers can create and attend to in their work - student-centred environments, knowledge-centred environments, assessment-centred environments and community-centred environments.

LOTE Beginning Teachers

Education Queensland Beginning LOTE Teachers or teachers of LOTE returning after a long absence from the classroom are eligible to attend a 2 day seminar at the Queensland LOTE Centre on the 14th and 15th of March 2008.

Getting together

This section of LOTE On-line has the capacity to grow and change. We can host LOTE sub-communities – organised around specific interests or projects.
