Since 1999, "Tony Bones Entertainment - Children's Theatre By Qualified Teachers" have been running a Book Week programme in Victorian primary and secondary schools. They choose one book nominated in each section for an award from "The Children's Book Council Of Australia", obtain the performance rights from the author, then adapt the book into either a one or one and a half hour play. These are then performed during and after Book Week each year at schools around Victoria, hopefully moving nationally in a couple of years.
The plays cover a variety of different performance genre and each show has original songs written for it. They also each include follow up lesson plans for each year level performed to. This year they are performing
"The Singing Hat" by Tohby Riddle for Picture Book Of The Year
"Something's Fishy, Hazel Green!" for Younger Readers Book Of The Year
"Touch Me" by James Maloney for Older Readers Book Of The Year.
