A 2002 ideas book is produced by the Children’s Book Council S.A. Branch available from the Treasurer John Moore, GPO Box 2392 Adelaide 5001. It is for Primary and Secondary schools. ABN  22 545 077 268.
It contains a section on ideas derived from the theme as well as ideas for the use of  shortlisted and some notable books.

Zart Art conducts art workshops on the theme and shortlisted picture books. They produce a  book of art ideas for the theme and each picture book.  Zart Art, PO Box 1136, Box Hill 3128 Ph 03 98901867 Fax. 98986527 $25.00 plus postage.

Since 1999, "Tony Bones Entertainment - Children's Theatre By Qualified Teachers" have been running a Book Week programme in Victorian primary and secondary schools. They choose one book nominated in each section for an award from "The Children's Book Council Of Australia", obtain the performance rights from the author, then adapt the book into either a one or one and a half hour play. These are then performed during and after Book Week each year at schools around Victoria, hopefully moving nationally in a couple of years.

The plays cover a variety of different performance genre and each show has original songs written for it. They also each include follow up lesson plans for each year level performed to. This year they are performing Horrible Harriet, A Different Sort of Real and When Dogs Cry.

Children's Book Council Official Merchandise
Posters, bookmarks, badges, stickers, T-shirts, and balloons to support the Book Week theme are available each year from your local branch of the Children’s Book Council.  The designer of the national merchandise is the winning Picture Book Illustrator from the previous year, Ron Brooks. They also produce the Short List Information Book, an annual publication providing details of the books, authors and illustrators currently shortlisted, and Notable Australian Children’s Books, an annotated list of books selected by the judges from those entered for the awards.  Go to the CBC list of branches for local information.
