A gallery organises and displays images, sound and video files with an accompanying narrative.
Images can be still photos, panoramas, video files, etc, and each entry in the gallery has a story.
Media Gallery management rights
A media gallery may be requested by a member of the professional community who does not have any user access/management rights. You can grant two levels of management access to a gallery by entering a Management Password and a Contributor Password when creating a gallery. This enables users to manage/update a media gallery without having to ask a Community Manager to do it for them. If you do grant these rights, please check the person managing the media gallery follows correct procedures for permissions for photo use, etc, as illustrated in the Acceptable content section.
A Media Gallery is created in the following way:
- If the Media Gallery does not appear in the list of site management tools, click on the Manage Tools section and click on the Change to: Active section
- When Media Gallery appears in the list of installed tools, click on it
- Select one of the Media Gallery Categories or add a new one if you wish by selecting Add a category (you may also edit or delete a category from here in the same way)
- Click on the Create a new category box
- Type in details of gallery and enter passwords to enable gallery management
- Click on the Add details box
- Click on the gallery title to edit/delete details and images
- Click on the Gallery Contents button to add an image, panorama, sound file or video clip
- Click on the Add image button to add an image to the gallery, select the file, and click Upload file
- Add a caption for the photo and write a descriptive story about that photo
- If successful, the final screen will be the File added page showing the image and details
