There is a range of tools available through the community website. Use them to build the community and support community activities.
There are two types of tools available to help with the community content management, web page editing tools and general community site tools.
Web page editing tools are found by accessing the Manage web pages section on the main Community Manager's Room page, which is the screen that opens after you log in via Secure Area - Site Control. These tools are for editing web page contact and include Page image, Page Gallery, FAQs, Files for Download, Links to Web Sites, Paper References, Page Notices, Page Polls, Text Blocks, Map Gallery, Preview Page and Flash Image. These editing tools are described in more detail in the Web page editing tools site section.
General community site tools are managed through the Manage tools section found on the main community manager's room page. Clicking on this item will open a Tool control page where the following tools can be switched on or off: Calendar, Contacts, Documents store, Forums, Media Gallery, Meetings, and Web links. Individual control of these tools and their functions is accessed by simply clicking on the tool name in the Web content management section. (Only those tools not turned off will be shown here).
You can turn off (make unavailable) any tool through the Manage Tools section. This is sensible if you are not going to use the tool. This means that the only menu items shown will be those with content in them, and visitors to the community will not waste time accessing empty pages.
Please note that while you can turn off any tools, you can't rename them - they are a system tool with built in functionality, and the name is part of the function.
Also remember that these tools are not considered site sections by the system, as it recognises them as tools, so they don't appear in the list of site sections - a very common mistake is to not realise you already have a tool listed in your menu such as Contacts or Web links, because you don't see it in the list of site sections, and then it is created twice, resulting in the instant disappearance of your menu! (The system dumps the whole menu if it finds two sections with the same name).
