Upgrade to at least Internet Explorer 5.5 or Netscape Navigator 7.0
The site control area has a special easy editing feature that is available if you use Internet Explorer 5.5 or above or Netscape Navigator 7.0 or above (for those of you using a Mac).
It is a WYSIWYG feature: What you see is what you get! You can use a word-type environment to edit your content. If you don't want to upgrade then you have to use html tags to add style to your text. You can upgrade your browser at Microsoft (come on over!) or at Netscape for Mac users.
Use two windows when editing
When you open your community, create a second window of the same screen. You can do this in a few ways:
- Go to File - new window at the top of your browser
- Hold down Control - N (or command - N on a Mac)
You now have two browser windows open.
In one of the windows, go into your community home page Secure area - Site control.
Leave the other window on open your community space. When you add content or make changes in the site control area, go over to the site and hit the Refresh button on your browser to see the changes.
If you find a mistake (ie typo), simply click back on the other browser and edit the changes.
Tips
- To refresh your browser - use the menu bar on your Internet browser or press function5 (F5) key on a PC
- If you are lucky enough to have multiple computers - you can log onto them and roll your chair between the computers - updating content at will. NOTE: only for the very experienced and only when the network and bandwidth is fast.
