The calendar tool has now evolved with new functionality and should now address all previous concerns.
How to add a calendar item
- If the Calendar function is not yet enabled on your site, click on Manage Tools and activate the calendar
- Select Calendar (single click)
- The Calendar tool now has categories which are added in the usual way - If adding an item to an existing category, select the category, and then click on Select
- Click on Add an event
- Enter the Title of the event and the Details of Event
- Choose Yes or No for the event to be displayed on the front default page of the Learning Place
- Select event dates from the Choose dates drop down menu (use Shift-click or Control-click to select multiple dates)
- Select Site areas for display to choose where information will be shown (use Shift-click or Control-click to select multiple display areas)
- Select Submit
The pool of categories is a general list not owned by any community to enable consistent choices of a category name across all communities. When a community manager decides none of the default categories suits their purpose, then they create a new category. If they choose one of the default categories, then the event becomes specific to their community or communities (under that category).
How to add resources - files, links, paper references
- Click on the event in the calendar event list
- Click on the orange Add resources button
- Add a document file, weblink, or paper reference in the normal manner (see the How to manage web pages site section)
How to change a calendar item
- Click on the event you wish to change
- Change the details and select Update details
You can also delete items whenever you want in the same way.
