Queensland School Sport’s objective is to provide an opportunity for all Queensland school students aged 10 years to 19 years to excel in their chosen sport through organised District, Regional, State and National championships.
The representative program for Cross Country offers opportunity for 12 years and under boys and girls to compete at State and National championship levels.
The State Championships of 10-12 Years Cross Country was first contested in 1991 and was initially administered by the State Athletics Committee. In 1996 Cross Country developed their own management committee and has since continued to develop and promote Cross Country throughout the State. The State Championships are conducted on a rotational basis ensuring that all regions have the opportunity to not only convene, but provide equitable sporting and cultural opportunities for students to compete all over Queensland. The current Cross Country Management Committee also recognises our Life Members - Lloyd Wills, Leigh Francis and Megan Burns - for their contribution to the development of this sport.
