Congratulations to our winning student cartoonists for 2011.  Challenge galleries will remain open for viewing. 

The competition consists of three separate challenges. Students can enter any or all of the challenges open to their age group. Prizes, image format and size are listed below with the descriptions of each challenge task.

The Online Cartooning Competition Challenges are open to all Queensland school students with access to the Learning Place. For details on the year level groups for the 2011 challenges please see the individual challenge descriptions below.

What are the 2011 online cartooning challenges?

Challenge #1 Aussie Hero Animal or Pant cartoon character
Years P-7
Prize: Online Cartooning Workshop with "Swamp" cartoonist, Gary Clark and an award certificate to the winning student.
For this simple challenge you will draw a single drawing depicting an Australian animal or plant as a hero cartoon character. Upload your drawing to the Challenge #1 Blog placing your first name, class and school in the title field of the entry. Your image must be saved in .jpg format with dimensions of 250 x 300 pixels, and the file size must be under 20 kb. Instructions for uploading entries to the blog are found below.

Challenge #2 Clay cartoon character with "blue screen" superimposed background on theme, "A Moment in Time".
Years 4-12
Prize: Online cartooning workshop with  "Swamp" cartoonist, Gary Clark and an award certificate to the winning student.
For this challenge you will make a clay cartoon character, photograph it against a plain blue/green background, and use "blue screen" editing to superimpose it on a background image appropriate for the theme "A Moment in Time". Upload your image to the Challenge #2 Blog placing your first name, class and school in the title field of the entry. Your image must be saved in .jpg format with dimensions of 500 x 400 pixels, and the file size must be under 20 kb.  Instructions for uploading entries to the blog are found below.

Challenge #3 Online Cartooning Competition 2011 Banner design
Years 4-12
Prize: Framed presentation copy of winning banner, banner will be used as official year's competition banner. Online Cartooning Workshop with "Swamp" cartoonist, Gary Clark.
For this challenge you will design a colourful and eye catching banner to replace the current banner in the competition project room. The words "Online Cartooning Competition" must feature in the banner. Upload your banner image to the Challenge #3 Blog placing your first name, class and school in the title field of the entry. The banner image must be saved in .jpg format with dimensions of 1262 x 80 pixels and the file size must be under 20 kb. Please place your first name, class and school in the title of your entry.  Instructions for uploading entries to the blog are found below. Download image templates with correct size, dimensions and format from the competition menu.
