About Me: After 4 years teaching Business and IT Certificate courses to secondary school students at Oakey State High School, I am returning to primary school as an ICT specialist, teaching P-7 at Kingsthorpe SS, Geham SS and Toowoomba North State School. I am looking forward to the challenge of helping teachers at these schools and other district schools attain their ICT Certificate and ICT Pedagogical Licence. In this position I will gain a better knowledge and understanding of integrating ICT through all age groups which will assist me in my role as a Smart Classroom Mentor.
I am presently studying my Masters in Education Technology at USQ, with the intention to complete this degree by 2010. I enjoy developing educational content and publishing to the web to pique the interest of my students.
My focus this year is:
This year I have been endeavouring to get reacquainted with digital pedagogy and integration of ICT into the classroom. I have attended some professional development practicums at the Innovation Centre, to do with podcasting, challenge based learning and Games in Learning. I am sucessfully working with teachers in DD schools integrating these technologies into their teaching units.
Through my USQ studies I am researching Emerging Environments for Learning. Presently I am evaluating the vast array of Web 2 technologies emerging and every turn and looking at adaptations for learning. I am also researching the Educational use of Multimedia and developing new ideas and practices integrating and creating new resources for learning.
I am an online facilitator for the Curriculum Integration Course, an online pathway to achieve the Digital Pedagogy Licence. This 10wk course uses a total immersion scaffolded approach for teachers to learn the necessary skills and acquire the digital pedagogy to equip their classroom for the 21st Century.
