Welcome to the Core Genre Project

The Genre Project has been a collaborative project with teachers working in year level teams to make
decisions around the genre component of our school English Program.

We decided that our
School English Program should not only inform teachers about the scope and
sequence of genre, but should also provide useful resources to support classroom
implementation.

Further cluster funding through a GEM submission supported the development of the criteria and standards sheet.

Representatives from each of  the Ipswich Community of  Schools Cluster of Schools-

Karalee SS, Ipswich North SS, Tivoli SS, Blair SS, Brassall SS, Leichhardt SS, Ipswich West SS, Ipswich West Special and

Ipswich SHS

participated in two days of professional development and workshopping around

genre development and developing criteria and standards

to come up with a suitable template.

For each genre we
have provided (where possible) the following:

a text deconstruction

sample texts

scaffolds to support
  the teaching and learning process

assessment devices (including criteria and standards)

and

web links

All poetry genres have
been supported by examples, scaffolds and assessment only.
