Digital Pedagogical Licence 2010

The Pedagogical Licence for 2010

Are you planning to apply for your Digital  Pedagogical Licence in 2010?

Apply today to participate in a regional program to support you to get your Pedagogical Licence.

Our region has identified that one pathway to the licence doesn't fit all participants.

Summary

Belief - Effective pedagogy is about engaging students in learning.
Generation Y & Z students are highly likely to be digital learners, and therefore can be engaged by “integrated ICTs” in the curriculum. The ICT PD Framework describes the “attributes” of a teacher using “integrated ICTs” in the classroom. Therefore it is highly desirable to have our region’s teachers using pedagogy that utilises ICTs to engage students.
There is strong alignment between Smartclassrooms’ ICT PD Framework and P-12 Framework and QCAR.

Target number of licences for 2010: 80
Budget: Budget reduced to less than half 2009 funding levels.
Accredited Facilitators: 27 for 80 participants. Each Accredited Facilitator supports up to 8 participants. Accredited Facilitators need to support participants beyond the initial workshop. Accredited Facilitators need TRS appropriate to level of care required.
Multiple Models DDS ICT Leadership team plans to use multiple models to support our geographically and culturally diverse region. No one model fits the entire region. Preference is to let local leadership teams select the model that best suits schools in their part of the region.
Run Multiple support events during 2010 year.
SC mentors and thinking digitally Teachers to provided support and assistance to schools through local leadership. Limited funding available.

Changes for 2010:

State rules changed in 2009 and continue in 2010.  Each Accredited Facilitator is assigned with up to 8 participants to work with.  The Accredited Facilitator decides, with the participant in the Pedagogical Licence course, when to submit their portfolio. The only limitation is the 12-month period to create the licence. Once submitted, the Accredited Facilitator assigned to the Pedagogical Licence participant, and an Accredited Facilitator from another region, moderate the licence.  This new arrangement allows great flexibility for both the participant and the school. There is also a new set of incentives for both licence holders and Accredited Facilitators in 2010.

Steps to apply for the Digital Pedagogical Licence

Step 1:

Confirm the suitability of the Digital Pedagogical Licence
Do this through the Online Self-Assessment Tool. The tool can help candidates determine where they currently are in their digital pedagogy shift and the level of the framework they should be working towards.

Step 2:

Read the Portfolio pack: Digital  Pedagogical Licence (new window)
The pack contains important information about the licence and accreditation.

Step 3:

Seek principal or line manager support
The principal or line manager of each candidate will need to sign a supporting statement (contained within the portfolio pack) to endorse that the candidate’s portfolio items reflect their typical practices and are not one-off examples.

Step 4:

Choose a pathway to accreditation
Each of the pathways can help candidates construct their digital portfolios.

Step 5:

Check timelines dates
Candidates should choose the date that suits them best. Read about timelines for each pathway.

Step 6:

Lodge a submission
The official online submission form must be used. The form will go live a week before you decide to submit. You have 12 months to submit from when you start.

(NB: An example of the form is available to help teachers prepare their online submissions. Submissions can only be accepted through the online submission form.

Step 7:

Ensure a confirmation email has been received
If a candidate has not received a confirmation email from the PDFramework email box within a week after their submission due date, they need to email to confirm their submission.

Outcomes of having an Licence

Candidates who successfully obtain their Digital  Pedagogical Licence and intend to apply for the Digital  Pedagogical Licence Advanced should keep a copy of their digital portfolio. Doing so will assist moderators in assessing the candidates' Digital  pedagogical journeys. Also, much of what is presented for the Digital Pedagogical Licence can be reflected upon and rewritten to demonstrate the Digital  Pedagogical Licence Advanced.

Postgraduate credit for licence holders

Digital  Pedagogical Licence holders may undertake an additional assessment task to gain academic credit through the Professional Development Pathways initiative.

This initiative provides Department of Education, Training and the Arts staff with the opportunity to gain tertiary credit for postgraduate qualifications after undertaking identified and approved professional development programs and completing an approved assessment task.

How to apply

We will schedule workshops for participants once we have an indication of the level of interest. Please refer to the timelines.
