Learning objects and digital resources can be discovered, played and downloaded from the Curriculum Exchange resource centre. These videos have been developed as guides only - please allow for differences between the environments shown in these videos and your local system.

1. Search using the title of a learning object (950 K) - Type: Windows Media Player file Shows how to search the Curriculum Exchange resource centre for an item using the title. Note that other items with the same title will also appear, so if you know the unique ID number of an item, eg L540, you should use this.
2. Select and play (1310 K) - Type: Windows Media Player file Shows how to select an item from a set of search results in the Curriculum Exchange resource and play it. Note that the URL, or web address, of the item when you are playing it, is a link that can be provided to students to access items from home as well as in school. Access from outside the EQ network requires Learning Place membership.
3. View item summary and download (2142 K) - Type: Windows Media Player file Shows how to view the item summary for a resource in the Curriculum Exchange resource centre, and download a learning object or digital resource. Useful if you want to incorporate the item into a local environment, expeially if bandwidth is an issue.
4. Extract and launch IMS package (1262 K) - Type: Windows Media Player file Shows how to extract, or decompress, the IMS package of an item downloaded from the Curriculum Exchange resource centre and play it. Note that the URL, or web address, of the item when you are playing it, is a link that can be provided to students to access items that you have deployed on your school network.
5. Deploy folder and make shortcut for students (3342 K) - Type: Windows Media Player file Shows how to copy the content folder, once decompressed, of an item downloaded from the Curriculum Exchange resource centre, to a space on your school server. Also shows how to make a simple shortcut to the start page for students to use.
6. Add a CX resource to a Blackboard course (3604 K) - Type: Windows Media Player file Shows how to add a resource from the CX into a Blackboard course or virtual classroom. This method allows an instructor to search the CX resource centre from within Blackboard and creates a link to the chosen item. An alternate strategy to avoid bandwidth impact is to use the address of a local copy of the learning object to make a hyperlink in a standard Blackboard item...see videos 3 to 5.
