INDIGENOUS EDUCATION TEAM
Darling Downs South West Queensland Region
The Indigenous Education Team supports the Partners for Success strategy that Education Queensland is implementing to enhance educational outcomes for Indigenous students. Team members include (from Left to Right):
Ms Marg Smith (Team Leader - Indigenous Education). Marg is responsible for data management and curriculum implementation related to the NAPLAN goals. Marg will be involved with the assessment of students in the Coolabah Dynamic Assessment program.
Ms Louise Alexander (Advisory Teacher). Louise is responsible for writing classroom materials, developing professional development packages, delivering professional development workshops and running web-based classes for Indigenous students. She is based in Toowoomba and will be involved with the assessment of students in the Coolabah Dynamic Assessment program..
Mr Tony Collins (Community Partnerships Officer). Tony has recently joined the team and is based in Roma. His role will include providing support to schools and to Indigenous communities. Tony will also contribute towards the co-ordination and support of the regional strategic goals for Indigenous education.
Mrs Natalie Docherty (Youth Worker - Indigenous Education). Natalie is based at Glenvale State School in Toowoomba and is responsible for managing the implementation of the Coolabah Dynamic Assessment program. She will also liaise with schools to support the development of strong community partnerships.
Mr Paul Carmody (Indigenous Teacher - Ollie Up). Paul is based in Toowoomba District Office and co-manages the regional Ollie-Up program for Indigenous students. Paul will also assist in the development of curriculum materials to support the embedding of Indigenous perspectives across the region.
