The Essential Learnings and Standards within the Queensland Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting (QCAR) Framework are the core of learning programs for all students in Years 1 to 9. They describe a rich set of knowledge, skills and capabilities from which schools generate an engaging and comprehensive curriculum.
Each year, state schools are required to address the QCAR Essential Learnings in all KLAs from Year 1 to Year 9 and to report on each KLA. Refer to Expectations for implementing the QCAR Framework.
The QCAR Framework promotes high expectations and links to the national curriculum by making clear what is important — what students will have opportunities to learn and by aligning curriculum content with standards, assessment and reporting.
