Junior Poetry Project

Your class can either participate in an existing project or coordinate your own project if you would like a further challenge.

Education Queensland and Affiliate staff who are Learning Place members are able to coordinate a project. However any teacher or educator can register to participate in a project that is already established.

10 steps for the Partner Teacher

1. Click on List of Projects in the box called Project Groups on the home page.

2. Select a suitable project then click on the project title to visit the project website. Or you could select the Group name to view all of the projects related to that group.

3. Select a project that best suits your students' learning needs. Consider:

  • Learning outcomes
  • Student needs, skills and interests
  • Technology requirements
  • Uniqueness, challenge and sense of fun

4. Register for a project by clicking on the Join our project link from the project box.

5. Complete the form. This will send an email to the Owner Teacher with your details. The Owner Teacher will contact you to let you know if you have been successful. If you have not heard from the Owner Teacher within 3 working days please contact the Learning Place. Contact detail are listed at the bottom of the page.

6. If selected to participate, you will be emailed a project login for your students. Please ensure your students keep this login private.

7. Make sure you and your students understand the project's timelines and your responsibilities. Use the Teacher Notes in your Project area to plan your curriculum and student learning activities.

8. The Owner Teacher will contact you to discuss the option of becoming a Team Manager. Each Team needs a teacher (Team Manager) to approve their web pages and support their team to achieve good learning outcomes.

9. Once the Owner Teacher has set up the Teams, you can login to the project's site control and add your students to their teams. This can be your choice or the Team Manager's choice. It is advisable to ensure your students' needs are met by allocating them to appropriate teams.

10. Check the project website and your email regularly to make sure you are ready to start.
