You can coordinate a Project Group or a Project within an existing Project Group.
Please contact the Learning Place (email - learningplace@deta.qld.gov.au ) if you would like to coordinate a Project Group or a Project.
A Project Group (Girls in ICT in diagram) needs the following criteria to be met before approval:
- The Project Group is substantial and would require many Project websites and team spaces;
- The Project Group would be undertaken over a long period of time (minimum 1 year);
- The Group Manager would be prepared to spend time setting up each project and supporting the Owner Teachers, Partner Teachers and Team Managers; (see roles)
- It is desirable for a Project Group to have an existing network of users (eg Girls in ICT);
- The Project Group has good educational value, is collaborative in nature (across schools) and is inquiry based; and
- Project Groups are non-profit.
A Project (Cyber Sisters for example in the diagram) needs the following criteria to be met before approval:
- Collaborative in nature across at least two schools;
- A strong curriculum focus with a sound pedagogical approach (ie inquiry based);
- Project content is educationally appropriate and current; and
- An Owner Teacher who is prepared to support Partner Teachers and Team Managers and give enough time to ensure the success of the project.
- Projects are non-profit.
Steps to set up a Project
1. Design a project that would appeal to students and provide:
- Sound curriculum and learning outcomes
- Satisfy student needs, skills and interests
- Provide uniqueness, challenge and a sense of fun
2. Develop your curriculum idea and try to include higher order thinking questions and challenging tasks that are interesting, open ended, deep and allow substantive conversation. It is a good idea to share your project ideas with other teachers and a few selected students before the project to ensure a high level of participation.
3. Complete the Project Request Form. You will be required to provide curriculum information about your proposed Project. Once the form is submitted it will alert the Project Group Manager of your request.
If your Project is approved, you will receive an email and support from your Project Group Manager. If you have not heard from the Group manager within 3 working days please contact the Learning Place. Contact detail are listed at the bottom of the page.
Please contact the Learning Place if you require more information.
