What are Travel Buddies

Travel Buddies are artifacts, hand puppets or stuffed toys that travel from the students at a school to visit students at other schools and centres or places in the community. These buddies learn about the life in other schools or meet people in the community eg. national parks ranger and gather information for projects and investigations.

Buddies can travel with a photo album and other travel necessities eg digital camera. These modern mates have their own web pages and email address. Diary entries are recorded in their web area so everyone can see their day to day activities.

Travel buddies can have many adventures. Each adventure has a curriculum mission and will be helped out by students to complete the mission, especially to send reports home and write diaries of his/her thoughts. While attending school with friends, each Travel Buddy will enjoy lots of exciting activities. His friends (participating schools) will build the adventure and allow him to record the diaries online, with images, video, sounds and text.

Travel Buddies help students develop skills to demonstrate outcomes in learning areas like literacy, numeracy, social and cultural studies, science and technology. They can also support the successful implementation of Education Queensland's Learning Agenda 2004-2005.
