Rationale: A whole series of online chats and forums will be taking place over the course of the year with students across Queensland. The focus for these online events will be the overarching theme of A Gift of Presence – Towards Reconciliation.
Students, through online discussions with well known australian individuals such as Ray Martin, David Hudson, Jackie Huggins, Meme McDonald, Boori Pryor and Yothu Yindi, will:
- Comparing statements and understanding about reconciliation from others
- Students developing their own personal statements and understanding about reconciliation
- Examining ways that students can personally contribute to building reconciliation into the community and their visions of the future
- Students recognising what constructs positive or negative representations of people, places and events.
The project will be based around the State Library of Queensland’s online exhibition called “The Gift of Presence”

Dates: The events will be organised around key educational events that will be occurring across the State:
- Reconciliation Week: 30th May- 3rd June
- NAIDOC week-5th July-8th July
- 8th June- National Aboriginal Day
- 9th Aug - International Day of World Indigenous Peoples
