General Online Projects are inquiry based, collaborative student projects that can have any topic or content as a theme. The challenge is the interesting question/s that allow students to think creatively and work collaboratively in small high interest groups.
Each main Project group can have multiple Projects. For example, a Project Group may be "Girls in ICT Projects" and any number of projects within this group: Go Go Gidgets, Cyber Sisters, Doing IT Smart Project etc
Each project can have multiple Project teams. Teams could explore different aspects of the project or investigate topics from different perspectives or research pathways. . Each Project team can develop up to 10 web pages using the WYSIWYG editing tools (What You See Is What You Get).
Teachers (the Project Owner Teacher or the Team Managers) can edit all of the project pages and can control which students participate in which Project teams.
Students can edit their team pages using images, video, sound and text to create multimedia responses to the open ended project questions and tasks.
A few other tips...
- Owner Teachers or Team Managers have to approve student work before it is visible to everyone. Before it is approved, only the student team members can see and edit their pages.
- Team members should use the message board to communicate with their fellow project members. These projects are collaborative across schools, so communication is essential.
- Bookmark your project so you can find it quickly. Each project has a unique url.
- Find out about the different roles in these projects, as each role has a special part to play.
Site Manager
The Collaborative Online Project (COP) area is managed by Candice Jackson the COP project officer. Candice can provide project advice and guidance to you at any stage and is responsible for approving project groups and the projects within those groups. She can also provide you with answers to your 'how to' questions and assist you with any technical problems.
