Examples of good use of page editing tools
ICT Innovators - this site gives a good illustration of how all of the page tools look when used on one page. It is unlikely that you would need to use all of the page tools on one page (not to mention a bit crowded!), but this page will allow you to see the format of how the page tools appear in relation to each other.
The following examples show how the average community uses the page editing tools to update web pages in their PLC site:
Page image - a picture paints a thousand word and certainly makes a web page look more interesting.
Page Gallery - a page gallery can be a large number of photographs shown as a row of thumbnail images, either up or down the page, such as on the Celebrations: Stories of success 2003-2004 PLC website
FAQs - the Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) tool is an effective way to group questions together in a block that is easy to read and find the question you want, jumping to the relevant answer without having to scroll through all the questions and answers first, as shown on the 'Copyright Questions and Answers' page on A Learning Place Showcase
Files for Download - this tool is used when information from a document is too long to put up as a webpage and can be loaded into the bottom of the page to open when the document is clicked with the mouse. It can also be used to hold a flowchart or diagram that cannot be placed on the page.
Links to Web Sites - a link to a web site at the bottom of a page can be a useful way to direct attention to a relevant resource website focused on the same subject, such as a link to an ICT for Learning website from an ICT for Learning page found in the Longreach Learning & Development Community
Page Notices - a page notice is a box that appears on the RHS of the page, attracting the visitor's eye to a topic of interest. The page notice box can also hold an image in it.
Page Polls - page poll tools are a great way to get feed back from community members as to the value of the site, resources offered, issues of concern to the community, etc.
Map gallery tool - this image mapping tool allows a grid to be placed over an uploaded image that allows each section of the grid to become a link to another page. These 'section links' are more commonly known as 'hot spots'.
