Modern History is delivered from BSDE in Brisbane.
Modern History is an inquiry-based subject which focuses on the ideologies and issues that have influenced contemporary society. It asks lots of questions and tries to find the stories behind the news. It develops analytical skills and encourages to make decisions based on evidence.
Studies in Modern History will provide students with knowledge and skills that are relevant to living in contemporary society and useful for a range of careers.

These themes are developed through inquiry topics that allow students to understand and investigate the concept of the theme in a specific context. For example, while studying the theme of conflict, students complete an inquiry on the Vietnam War. Inquiry topics in Modern History focus predominantly on the 20th Century and incorporate a range of time periods and a range of geographical contexts.

Assessment
Assessment in Modern History is criterion based and is designed to help students to demonstrate achievement in the objects of the syllabus.
There are three criteria assessed in Modern History
Planning using a historical research process
Forming historical knowledge through critical inquiry
Communicating historical knowledge
Students will be assessed in each of the four categories of assessment
Test essays in response to historical sources
Research assignments in response to historical questions
Multimedia presentations that may include non-written and visual presentations
Short response tests and response to stimulus tests.
Requirements
It is essential that students have access to a computer and the internet as the course is delivered online and through CD ROM. Blank CDs may be required to submit assessment
