Modern History

Modern History (Year 11 & 12) is delivered from Brisbane School of Distance Educatio -  Brisbane School of Distance Education Enrolment Form

From the commencement of 2010 Modern History will be delivered from BSDE in Brisbane.  All Modern History enrolments will need through BSDE to be made using the link above, please indicate on the enrolment form that you are a VSS Receiving School in order that we are able to keep accurate data with regard to student enrolments.

Modern History is an inquiry-based subject which focuses on the ideologies and issues that have influenced contemporary society.  It asks lots of questions and tries to find the stories behind the news.  It develops analytical skills and encourages students to make decisions based on evidence.

 

Studies in Modern History will provide students with knowledge and skills that are relevant to living in contemporary society and useful for a range of careers.

 

Students will learn about the impact of Nationalism, Communism, Capitalism, Imperialism and Racism as well as examining Australia’s relationship with other nations both in times of peace and war.

Assessment

There are a range of Assessment items, both Written and Non-Written, to meet all requirements of the Queensland Studies Authority.  Research assignments allow students lots of choice with regard to topics and presentation.
