Economics is essentially a study of how to use scarce resources in the best way possible. Households, businesses and governments are confronted with the economic problem of alternative uses of their limited resources and, for this reason, Economics is sometimes referred to as the science of choice. The political ramifications inherent in the process of choosing will be examined during the course of study.
Studies in Economics will provide students with knowledge and skills that are both relevant for living in contemporary society and useful for a range of careers in commerce and industry.

Assessment
Diagnostic assessment is undertaken for each topic studied.
 
Formative assessment: for certification purposes in October in Year 12, this school must submit Student Folios which contain Year 12 Summative assessment items.
