Ollie Up is an acronym for OnLine Learning in Education.  As a part of the i-support program, Ollie Up developed out of the ICTs for Learning Strategy and seeks to use ICTs and excellence and innovation in learning and teaching to engage and broaden the horizons for middle schooling students who are at risk and/or in rural and remote locations.

Fun, informality and self esteem building are important elements of the Ollie Up program.  The program integrates ICTs into the curriculum where the main focus is on literacy, numeracy and social skills.

Students in Ollie Up enjoy using many technologies including webcams, chat rooms, comic chat, forums, online games, Kahootz ™, web conferencing, teleconferencing, email and Blackboard™ in innovative ways. 

The aims of the Ollie Up program:

·        To develop modules suitable for middle schooling students which integrate ICTs into the curriculum and focus on literacy, numeracy and social skills.  These modules are to use either current materials adapted for context specific use or newly developed materials and be suitable for synchronous and/or asynchronous delivery.

·        Use The Learning Place learning environment and other ICTs to engage middle schooling students in learning.

·        To develop and support an online learning community for teachers and support staff who work with students in the target group specified.
