The Flash Image function can upload a flash file (.swf extension) from your computer and make it available for download by the users of your site.
Just remember that viewers cannot view your flash image without a flash player, so if you do use a flash image then it may be useful to give viewers without a flash player this link to download a copy - Macromedia Flash Player Also keep in mind that most school networks in Queensland have this facility blocked, so if your main audience accesses your sites from these networks, they probably won't get to see your flash image anyway.
To make a file available for download:
- Open Site Control - Secure area
- Select Manage web pages
- Select the appropriate site section name and select the page you wish the Flash image to appear on
- Select Flash Image from the list of Other web page elements
- Find the file location via the Browse button - a dialog box will open for you to find the file on your local machine. Click the file you want to upload and the path will be inserted into the upload slot for you. Do not type the pathname and filename and then select
- Now that you have the pathname and filename in the slot, select Upload File
- The message Flash file was uploaded successfully appears
- You are then prompted to enter the Width and Height (if you don't know, you can guess, e.g. 400 x 200 for a rectangular image, and then adjust the ratio if the image appears to be stretched or squashed)
- You then need to answer yes or no to Looping - answer yes if you wish the Flash image to keep running over and over
- Select Add details and the image will then drop into the top middle section of the page.
- To delete the image, just click on the Flash Image button from the list of Other web page elements and then click the Remove Image button on the next page
Note: There is a template in the Page Layout options at the bottom of the page editing tools for pages with Flash images on them - Template 5. This will be set automatically when the Flash file is uploaded and when the Flash image is deleted, the template will automatically be set to Template 1.
