When the Add text (use WYSIWYG) OR Edit text (use WYSIWYG) box on the web page editing tools section is entered, a blank box for inserting or typing text should appear. At the top of this box should be a toolbar, with word-like buttons such as bold, insert, font etc.
This tool bar does not appear for mac computers - users of macs will have to type directly into the edit box without formatting, cut and paste from word, or use some basic html code to format the page.
If this toolbar is missing, it is due to one of the following reasons:
- Your browser version is older than Internet Explorer 5.5. If it is, have your school network staff update the version of Internet Explorer for you
- Your browser is not Javascript enabled (have your school network staff check this)
- Proxy settings are not set correctly. Some large schools run their own proxy servers (eg MS proxy) and unless they include the EQ websites in their exceptions, they may not even be able to access the Learning Place at all (again, have your school network staff check)
If all 3 of these possible causes have been checked and you still have no toolbar, please contact Professional Learning Communities staff.
