Remember that you can only add information to a web page that has already been created.
To add content to a web page:
- Open Site Control - Secure area
- Select Manage web pages
- Select the appropriate site section name and open the page that will display the image.
- Select the Add text button from the web page tools which will be located under the Dynamic Text Content heading (the button will read Edit text if there is already text on that page. There are 2 versions of these buttons - use Edit text (use WYSIWYG) if your Internet Explorer Browser is version IE 5.5 or newer (or Netscape Navigator 6.0), use the Edit text (no WYSIWYG) if your version is older or a different type of browser - see Tip below.
- Simply type in text needed for the page in the edit window - do not paste images into this window, there is a separate Page image button with the web page tools that can be used for this function. Remember, there is no spellcheck with this system - you may wish to copy and paste into word and spellcheck the document before you finalise the page.
- Select the Submit button at the top of the page and the information will be loaded into the web page are adding. If you change your mind and don't wish to add anything to the page, select the No changes button.
- The message Text updated will appear when adding or editing is completed.
- Once a web page contains content, the choice of buttons at the top of the page will change to three options:, Update details, Delete Content, and No changes.
Tip
If your browser is older than Internet Explorer 5.5 or Netscape Navigator 7.0, have it updated to the latest version, or you'll have to do all the formatting by using html code.
The tool bar at the top of the edit window does not appear for school networks using mac computers - users of macs will have to type directly into the edit box without formatting, cut and paste from word, or use some basic html code to format the page.
If you choose to add or edit text using the left hand side Edit text (use WYSIWYG), you should have a tool bar at the top of the window similar to Microsoft Word buttons i.e. Bold, Italic, Bullets, Font, etc. If you do not have this bar at the top of the edit window, your browser if probably too old or incompatible - for other reasons see Troubleshooting section.
