Bookmark was developed by Dean Hodgson, to fill the need for an easy to use, low cost automated library system especially designed for use in schools with small to medium size collections. It has been developed and produced by experienced educators within the education department of South Australia, known as the Department of Education, Training and Employment (DETE). The knowledge and experience of teachers, teacher-librarians and teacher/programmers has been brought together to produce one of the few automated library systems truly designed for schools by schools. It is powerful and flexible enough for successful use by many primary and secondary school libraries, school/community and public libraries, special government, technical and private libraries and other resource centres.
