Last month a very enthusiastic and energetic group of teachers participated in the first of two Remote Area Incentive Scheme (RAIS) conferences. New teachers transfering or appointed to Identified Indigenous schools had the opportunity to meet and work with their Principal and other members of their school communities and learn more about living and working in a remote Indigenous community. The second stage of the RAIS conference is being held in Cairns and Townsville this week and new teachers will participate in a broad range of workshops that offer specific information about education in North Queensland and Far North Queensland Region as well as their school contexts.
